what are we doing to help the the polar bears form getting extinction?

  • socal pal says:

Male polar bears eat all the baby polar bears they can find which decimates the polar bear population! This appears to be part of their natural behavior. I don’t think we can change their natural behavior and make them stop this cannibalism!

  • Survival of the fittest. If they can’t adapt.. they don’t deserve to continue. That’s the way nature works. But FYI they’re managing just fine, once again the “chicken little” enviro-nuts are picking are picking single area for use in their “proof of doom” The bears are doing just fine as a whole.

  • Gracie says:

almost everyone likes polar bears and physically, we are doing nothing to save them. Polar Bears are drowning.

  • Vincent G says:

I don’t believe anything at all is being done. And even if there was a will to do something, we’d be at a loss to know what could be done that would work.

The group Environmental Defense–of which I am a member as well as other animal protection coalitions/groups have an online petition campaign of email for the U.S. senators/other government leaders of the group who handle wilderness legislation. It is being voted and planned right now how to proceed with regulating Alaskan drilling and keeping the polar ice caps from melting too much and leaving the polar bears w/out ice floes which they use as jumping/standing platforms for finding food.

  • 1stly if you are so much concerned about global warming then stop using your PC. coz it generates enough of heat which is also a cause for global warming.LOLz

  • Go hippies… I contributed by setting my car on fire in a drunken rage… I am sorry penguins… I will miss you soooo soooo much… Sadface!!! The only thing we can do now is stop having kids… The problem is growing to fast… End Humanity, End Global Warming… Or just don’t believe in it… And rely on Zoo’s to prove Polar bears existed… Are childeren must learn… Seriously Look up p-bear pictures on google… they will steal your heart and soul witht the sadness we cause them….

  • redhawgs says:

we have had Arctic melting, global warming, sky is falling fears for 1000 plus years. we are not the enemy, we might contribute to the issue but think about it….when the original ice age happened…there was no man to produce “green house” gas to kill the enviorment. the earth is a living being, we exist because the earth allows us to. the Mayan calendar says the earth decides to vomit us up (not in those words of course) and the earth ends. 2012…look it up. it’s kinda scary. we (humans) do not control sh*t. buying an electric car…doesn’t help. recycling…doesn’t help. the earth has it’s own plan, we are just here for the ride. ok…we might make it happen faster…but it would happen either way. my opinion.

  • Jim says:

Two things. Polar bears are doing just fine. Polar bears are already resident of Northern Canada. The important thing to remember is that polar bears use pack ice and broken up ice to hunt seals.

  • MC says:

Thats a myth..there are plenty of polar bears out there….see link below……

  • Miha L says:

Polar bears have vulnerable status and it is as likely to become Endangered unless the circumstances threatening its survival and reproduction improve. According to http://www.bearplanet.org/global-warming-polar-bears.shtml “reduction in sea ice in the Arctic can see a loss of 2/3rds of the entire word?s Polar Bear population over the next 50 years. “

  • They will cease to be endangered if you take the red pill.

  • LIVExINxLOVE says:

maybe you have a chance but it’s kind of a downer like, reading this was a bit depressing and annoying because you just go from complaining about one thing to another, and the story isn’t going anywhere…try writing about more pleasant or interesting things, not just venting about strangers

  • Mike Y says:

I can’t tell from this. It’s just a rant. I don’t think you’re in the right mindset yet.

  • Samantha B says:

Its alright. its not that interesting, where is the story going. i see no point right now, if this was on a book store shelf and i was to read this first part, i would put the book right back down and look at another book.

  • Mimi says:

Haha, I was laughing all the way through that. I don’t know why you think your writing sucks, because it seems pretty good to me, but I get the same feeling when writing too, you’ve just gotta push past it, and the good thing about writing is that you can always edit out the parts that you hate after you’ve finished the novel. good luck, Mimsie.

What truly negative outcome would occur as a result of polar bear extinction?

  • wushuboy001 says:

seals in the north would get lazy and fat because they wouldn’t have run away from the polar bears. Some childrens cartoons and stories that involve polar bears would be confusing to kids and need extra explanation. I don’t think there would be a really devastating impact on the world, but certainly it would be sad to lose such a majestic creature as the polar bear.

  • Sarah says:

I think the main effect of the extinction of polar bears would be an increase in seal numbers. This in turn would likely lead to a decrease in many fish stocks, which would have a ripple effect across a number of ecosystems. It would be a bad thing!!
